Ganoderma

Red Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), commonly known as Ling Zhi in Chinese, is a herbal.Ganoderma, fungus that grow on wood and also known as Red Mushroom, belong to mushroom family. To date 38,000 varieties of mushrooms have been found in the world, out of which 2,000 are edible and 200 have medicinal values. There are about 80 speices of ganoderma mushrooms, out of which six have medicinal and therapeutic values. Ganoderma is a Greek term combining the words ganos (γανος or "shining") and derma (δερμα or "skin"). They are Lignicolous (or wood-decay fungus) and Coriaceous (or leathery) either with or without a stem. The fruit bodies grow in a fan-like or hoof-like form on trunks of living or dead trees.

In American Herbal Pharmacopoeia®'s published monograph on Reishi mushrooms, Reishi is classified as "Class 1: Herbs that can be safely consumed when used appropriately (McGuffin and others 1997). No side effects were reported in the available clinical literature.

Direction of taking

Ganoderma is best taken in the morning with an empty stomach. Drinking more water will also help enhance the effects of Ganoderma by helping the body get rid of poisonous waste. It is also recommended to take Vitamin C with Ganoderma as this will assist the body in absorbing the active ingredients in Ganoderma. Studies have shown that Vitamin C helps break down the complex polysaccarides into smaller manageable pieces that the body can intake.
